Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersections of anthropologic and public health research with a goal of shedding light on the consensus that socio-behavioral outcomes are both biological and social. Thus, my research attempts to integrate approaches from the social and biological sciences. To date, I have used “mixed methods” designs including ethnography, mHealth, tailored surveys and collection of biomarkers. My primary area of research in socio-behavioral health focuses on pesticide exposures, occupational injuries, and other health disparities experienced by Latino immigrant farmworkers. My research also emphasizes health justice. My other programs of study include the role of citizenship, language, race and/or ethnicity, culture, and behavior in the health of minority and immigrant populations.
